My Angel

The season of the Witch has arrived, there is a blue moon hanging high in the night's sky, the dance of the lady is coming to an end, as she hands over her sword of power to her consort once again. For each deity there is a time, there is a season, there is a beginning, but never an end, as their union is circular and their dance is the grand spiral of life, for one without the other would make it impossible for the world in which we live in to exist, for within the universe there must be a balance and just as the Goddess and God meld together, we too must make concessions within the confines of our lives so that we can live in balance and in harmony with the forces of nature that surround us!

Our human nature takes hold when we are challenged, and when we are confronted with the hardships that we must face it is within our human nature to become confrontational, driven with such a fear that we are going to lose that in which we love the most, will most certainly insure that we react and act out in such a way that we are guaranteed to be dealt a losing hand, a hand that was created by our very own design, a fate that we foolishly dealt ourselves, how unfortunate it is for us to have been born with such human frailty, a fragileness that it makes it so impossible for us to believe in ourselves and to relax just enough to believe that we can trust in our lovers and in our friends and in our family, trust that the ones that we love the most would never hurt us and yes, it is the frailty of our human nature that breaks even the most precious ties that bind us, the ties that bind us to the ones that we love.

I know far too well from my own inability to relax the devastating impact and the damage that can never be undone, but, I also know that while the damage may not be able to be undone, no energy is ever lost and therefore we can mold it into something positive, and we can make a mends for our actions and we can start, by telling those that we have wronged, how very sorry we truly are and I know that in the ten years that I have been with my beloved Angel, that my strong and often overbearing and even at times demanding personality has been hard to take, I am at times a Witch with a capital (B) and on more than one occasion I have been accused of being a control freak, but, to my defense my heart has always been in the right place, and as I often do in the articles that I have written for malewitch.com, I am here once again bearing my soul and using myself and my life experiences as an example or perhaps even as a teaching tool for the large audience of readers that have become a part of my extended family.

The threat of losing the one that you love more than life itself, whether the loss is due to an illness that results in the death of your life-mate or the one that you love is simply fed up with the strain and struggle of your relationship, the pain is all the same, the suffering is the same, the only difference is that with the natural act of death the door of closure is opened and closed in a flash, meaning that with death we are forced to move on because there are no opportunities to say the words that can bring them back to us, there is not a spell to be cast or a ritual to be performed and no mojo, no matter how strong it is will resurrect a love once it is planted six feet in the ground and the only thing that we are left with is the missed possibilities of regret and that is why it is so very important for us to be able to face up to our short comings and to be able to tell the one that we love how we truly feel about them, while we still have the chance, this past week I came face to face with the possibility of losing the one that I love, and as I came face to face with that dreaded possibility, my life without the one that I love flashed before my very eyes and while our relationship has survived ten years of insane-sanity, the picture that I saw played out before my eyes like an old and very sad black and white movie. and it occurred to me that maybe I have failed to tell the one that I love, Angel, more than life itself, how I really feel about him and so I dedicate this article to him and I hope that in some way it touches the hearts of those of you who have taken the time to read it and that it renews the fire within your spirit to continue fighting for the one that you love.

Lover's Pledge

I feel that it is so very appropriate that your name is Angel, the day that you came into my life it was as if the Goddess had thrown me a life preserver, because, for years I had searched endlessly for the one who would balance and compliment my energy, and you my love have been that balance, you have been the grand pillar of stone and stability in my life when I have been at my weakest and you have been the driving force that has kept me going when I have felt so very overwhelmed by the daily events that spiral within the confines of our daily lives together, and it is true that my Irish-Cherokee-Indian temper proceeds me in the circles that we travel in, but, somehow you are always able to provide a calming force, and yet just another example of how you and I balance one another's energy, I truly appreciate both the good times and the bad times that we have shared and although some of the lessons have been tough and often hard to swallow for us both, I gladly pledge my undying love to you all over again, and Goddess willing I am looking forward to another ten years together, as a couple we have traveled far together and I know that we have yet another million or so miles to go, but, I will not foolishly assume that we are exempt from the errors of our human ways, I can only pledge to strive to be the driving force behind your ambition, and I can promise to always love and respect you and to build you up, as you have so many times for me in the past and if life knocks you on your ass, as life often does, I will be there to extend a hand to help you regain your footing once again.

With all that we have been through together, I know that you love me and that I love you, but, I also know that I have failed to tell you how much I love and adore you, and the truth is that I love you more than I could ever express, my admiration for your strength and for your courage grows with each passing day, and although it may not always seem like it, you inspire me to do better and to be a better person, and I have often wondered what I have done to deserve such a caring and warm hearted person such as you and I know that I am not always the easiest Witch to deal with, but, for whatever reason you made me yours and I made you mine, it is true what they say, be careful what you ask for, but, I know that should I be forced to ask again, I would not change my request, not one little bit, I would ask for you, truthfully the only thing that I would ask that the Goddess do differently for me, would be to grant me the wisdom to realize the gold that I have been blessed with in a life-mate, way before the threat of losing you, for if one day we should wake and you decide that we are more than you can continue to take, there would be no doubt an empty shell where my heart use to be, an emptiness that another love could reach and never fill, for you my Angel are the only one that my heart has pledged to love and I know that your heart needs healing and that your soul needs mending, come back to me by reaching out and taking hold of my hand, for I will always be here and I will never let you go, for one day shall we part, we too are like the Goddess and God, we are circular, it is hard to find where you start and where I end, for we meld together like the seashore and the sand and as time is long, so our love is strong and there is noting that life can throw at us that we can't withstand!

There are so many songs written about losing the one that you love, sometimes it is simply foolish pride that causes a rift in the riddle of time, a rip in the fabric of love, a glitch in the programming, an argument that was as senseless and meaningless as the day is long and only serves to widen the gap that has formed between the two of you, because, the fear of backing down and the refusal to admit that you may have been wrong and that they may have been right, losing at love is simply not worth the price you'll pay for holding onto the petty issues that matter not at the end of the day! Keep in mind that relationships are fragile, the human heart may beat strong when it is united with the one that you love, but, when that love is ripped right out from under you it will make you weaker than you ever thought possible, and to see a glint of disappointment in your lovers eyes can bring your world crashing down around you and drive you to your knees, the best time to salvage a love, is when that love still stands strong within your life, love takes a daily commitment from two caring people to nurture it so that it grows properly and while there are spells and rituals that can be done to heal and to reunite lovers, the task is far more easier if you nip the problem in the bud before it blooms, so, if your lucky enough to be standing beside your woman or man, tell him or her right now how much you love them, do not wait for disaster to strike, do not wait until your lover is sick and tired of being taken for granted, grasp the brass ring of your second chance, long before it becomes your last chance.
